Raisa was raised by her parents at Los Angeles, California. There are two sisters: Irlanda Almendarez and Italia Almendarez. Francia is her name in Italian. Italia means Italy in Italian the same way that Irlanda is a reference to Ireland. Virginia Almendarez, her mother is born of Mexican heritage as is Renan has Honduran roots. Renan adopted the name of El Cucuy within a short time after her arrival. Renan is a popular radio host as well as one of the top Latino DJs who reside in Los Angeles. Francia and the sisters were raised by an uncle who was a Hollywood celebrity. Francia is fluent in Spanish and English. Francia's parents signed her up for dancing classes at barely five.
